The race is a test of skill, and luck<\/p>\n<p>The TT race is actually a week of time trial racing featuring different classes of motorcycles running 3 to 6 laps around the course. There is even a sidecar race with brave fellows (called monkeys) that hang on as a\u00a0 &#8220;passenger&#8221; and flop from side to side of the rig to add weight when needed in turns, hanging off inches from the roadway at speeds in excess of 100mph.\u00a0 Every machine racing against the clock&#8211;quite a show.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 625px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-1152-2\" width=\"625\" height=\"417\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"https:\/\/tkb.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/IMG_3211.mp4?_=2\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/tkb.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/IMG_3211.mp4\">https:\/\/tkb.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/IMG_3211.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<p>Driving the TT course in the rain.\u00a0 Note the stone wall on the left.<\/p>\n<p>It was a miserable weather day.\u00a0 When we drove back into Douglas after a couple of hours, Mike apologized for the foul weather and refused to take any money for his time.\u00a0 Mike Banks owns &#8220;Isle of Man Motorcycles Adventures&#8221;\u00a0 and we would recommend him to anyone considering visiting the the Isle of Man as a gentleman who knows the island and its sights and services well.
